MYTH: You have to go under the knife to get the beauty and graceful aging results you’re wanting. Although plastic surgery has traditionally been gold standard, there are a number of highly effective non-surgical treatments to explore prior to considering surgery. Non-invasive medical treatments can renew youthful skin, promote graceful aging, and restore confidence.
Now that I’ve sparked your interest, here are 6 non-invasive beauty treatments to try before you consider plastic surgery.
1) Great Skin Begins with Exceptional Skincare
Skin care is the foundation to your most authentic self and feeling beautiful. A good skin care regimen is about maintenance and prevention, regardless of what procedures you’ve had done or are considering. A regimen should be introduced in childhood with sunscreen, followed by a natural progression to medical-grade products. It is never too late to start your beauty routine, and keep in mind your skincare needs will change over time, and as the nature of your skin shifts you will need to adapt your cosmetic care accordingly.
2) Get Camera Ready! The Photo Facial aka IPL
Look more rested and youthful with a clear, even skin appearance delivered by an IPL, photo facial. Although I agree that freckles give character, if you’re someone who aims to even your skintone throughout, the IPL, is for you. The IPL, also known as the photo facial, is intermittent pulsed light that is highly effective in reducing areas of hyperpigmentation and freckles, specifically those that are associated with sun damage and aging. This facial is optimal to begin in your 20’s as sun damage is cumulative, and this treatment is ultimately good for any age after sun exposure.
3) Toxins Can Be Good
Neuromodulators are the injectable toxins (that we love), including Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. They work by paralyzing small facial muscles. By stopping the movement in these areas, you are preventing wrinkles, giving a softer and more youthful look and for some people, it is all they need in order to look their best. These injectables are highly effective between the eyebrows, forehead, "crow's feet" around the eyes or the "bunny lines" around the nose.
4) Fill The Void
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are clear gel injectables that are used to fill in lines, valleys, or hollow areas of the face, such as the nasolabial fold (smile lines) or used to add volume to areas like the midface and cheeks that are known to lose volume with age. There are now many Hyaluronic Acid fillers on the market, most used for specific facial areas with a variety of longevity. Often times, neuromodulators (botox) and fillers are used in conjunction to create a younger, smoother appearance, enhancing one’s confidence.
5) The Plasma Facial
Microneedling, also known as the plasma facial, creates tiny punctures in the skin, stimulating the production of collagen. As these tiny punctured areas heal, cell regeneration occurs. The treatment can be combined with growth factors, protein rich plasma (PRP) or radio frequency for an enhanced effect and quicker recovery. Microneedling specifically promotes skin rejuvenation, tissue tightening, collagen stimulation, scar and stretch mark improvement, and tightens small areas of loose skin on various areas of the body.
6) The Non- Invasive Face Lift
Ultherapy, also known as a non-invasive facelift, uses the energy of ultrasound to shrink and tighten skin. It is specifically used for rejuvenating the neck, chin, brow, and can improve lines and wrinkles on the chest, all problem areas that are known for developing in men and women in their mid-40s. Ultherapy is a go-to treatment to retain the youthful elasticity you may have once had without the commitment of surgery.
